What do you get when a racial group votes year in, year out, for one political party? When that party relies with an arrogant confidence that the racial group will never, ever switch to the other party? When that party says and does anything and everything to keep that racial group in the fold?
You get this.
In the last five years, 557 people were slain on the city’s streets, making Oakland the state’s second-most murderous city, behind Compton.
Most victims are young, black men who are dying in forgotten neighborhoods of East and West Oakland.
Would you like more?
A majority grew up without a father – he was either murdered, incarcerated or abandoned his children.
Mom is typically absent, too, either because she’s working several jobs for minimum wage or because she’s also lost to the streets through drugs, prostitution or prison.
Enough.
Such grim statistics are replicated throughout our nation wherever the Democrat Party dominates—in Washington DC, in Chicago, in Philadelphia.
It gets worse.
The number one cause of death among black males is other black males. Black males represent 7 percent of the US population yet 60 percent of the US prison population. More than 70 percent of black children are born to unwed mothers. Black babies are as likely to go under the abortionist’s knife as not—14,000,000 have already done so since Roe v. Wade.
All of this happened since the 1950s. Thomas Sowell informs us that the black family then was nearly as stable as the white; that Harlem was as safe as any other urban area; that black high schools routinely graduated the same percentage of students as white high schools; that blacks performed as well as whites on standardized testing.
What happened since the 50s? LBJ happened. The ‘Great Society’ happened. Big Government happened. Radical social engineering happened. Such policies did for the black family what collectivization did for the Ukrainians.
And all of this brought to them courtesy of the Democrat Party.
Try this little test: Find a black who votes Republican. Take your time.
What to do about all of this? How to wean blacks away from the Democrat Party? It does no good for Republicans to simply try to out-pander the Democrats in handing put government largesse. Given a choice between a real Democrat and a copy, a man votes for the real McCoy.
And no, I am not arguing that blacks should vote Republican so that all will be well. For it is not in politics that will blacks find Salvation—yes, I capitalized that word—but in Christ. Odd, the same is true for whites—and Native Americans and Asians and every other race you can imagine.
But first things first. Blacks must cease their support of that virulently anti-God party we call the Democrats. For it has given to them exactly what one would expect a group of God haters would give—abortion, fatherless families, servitude, violence. To clear things up a bit, all of those gifts come right from the Father of Lies himself.
You do not believe that the Democrats are anti-God? Pardon me then, for you are very ignorant.
To put the matter bluntly, blacks in the US have switched allegiance from God to the Democrats. They have sold their heritage for a mess of pottage and have reaped Esau’s reward.
Rather than shill for ‘the black vote’ Republicans should seek out blacks and plead with them to return to God. It might prove easier than it looks at first, for one strength of the black community is the black church. By and large these are Baptist and God-fearing, two things the Democrat Part most assuredly is not.
Once the hearts of blacks are changed by the Blood of Christ, perhaps we can work to change the hearts of whites.
(Hat tip: Clayton Cramer)
I do not, however, agree with Cramer’s conclusion, that a religious revival is ‘simply unimaginable in a post-Christian America.’ Such a belief diminshes God Himself. He can do to America what he did to the Roman Empire—if we let Him.
11 Comments;
Very nice and interesting. As far as finding a black who votes Republican, I just look in the mirror. As far as LBJ goes, he was trying to (and succeeded in) buy black votes as a method to weaken the Republican Party. What no current politician has the ability to do without seeming false on the Right is talking of how our party fits better with what their religious beliefs are than the Dems. What needs to be said that no current nominee has the cajones to say is that Republicans believe in equality of opportunity, not one of result. Of course, the first thing that would and should come up is education. We need charter schools in those run down areas, but that is a rant for another time.
PS~ Esau is my middle name… this is why I hate it.
Dear Kimble:
You are spot on the money about Republicans and their failure to connect with the black Christians. The only reason I can come up with is a typical sort of Christian cowardice whose possessor is embarrassed by public displays of affection toward Christ.
You are right again about vote buying—that is the reason why the Democrat Party exists at all. It functions like a typical 3rd World dictatorship, tossing around favors for its supporters so that it remains in power. And power is everything to it, as it was to the Czars, who ‘wielded power to wield power.’
The Democrats will never give in on charter schools. Such schools allow blacks to flee the plantation of public education. I work in a charter school, and the hatred of the public school officials is palpable and constant. We have many blacks at our school and many whites and Hispanics. They all are required to perform to our standards—and these are high and demanding.
The result? Our test scores are among the highest in the state, a fact that drives the public school officials to distraction. And we are not allowed to choose our students. We have a lottery and our student pool is the same as the non-charter public schools. We even outperform some of the private schools whose costs are $10,000 a year—ours is zero.
I understand your hatred of that name. I too hated my name, so I changed it. I was once ‘Michael Dean John Magsamen.’ Now I am simply Mike Austin.
Why did you change your name?
Can you imagine what will happen to black Republicans if Romney is nominated with the Mormons’ explicitly racist recent past? How about Latino Republicans? You could just kiss their votes goodbye.
Mine, too.
By the way, I totally agree with your post. Recently, I had written something similar and ended up having to remove all traces of it as I was deluged with external links from lefty blogs who sent over enraged hordes screaming, “Racism!”
Dear Kimble:
I changed my name because I detested the man who owned it.
I was born a bastard. My biological father was some passing Mexican. I was adopted by the man who married my mother some time after. His name was William Magsamen.
He was a worthless gambler, violent, stupid and cruel. When he left when I was 12 I was glad. As soon as I could I removed all legal connections to Magsamen. I became what the Romans called, a novus homo—a ‘new man.’ I simply re-invented myself.
I have done so many times since, most recently when I moved to Oklahoma. Before coming here I had neither boots nor gun nor accent nor hat nor truck nor Wranglers nor attitude. Now I have all of them.
It seems now as if I had always had them. I have become what I pretended I was.
Dear KT Cat:
I know of the former Mormon attitude toward blacks. What effect this will have upon blacks and any Romney candidacy is speculative. But blacks do not vote Republican at any rate.
About Latino Republicans, I imagine they will vote as Americans and not as race baiting and race-addled Democrats. That is why they are Republicans.
I know you have said that you would not support Romney, that you would become an independent if he got the nomination. How would you then vote in 2008?
I will vote for the Republican candidate in 2008 whoever he is—-even for McCain or Giuliani, alas. I have no idea whom I will support in the primaries.
It has become impossible to talk about race in America. Unless you believe in Affirmative Action, government handouts and overlooking the felonious activities of the Sharptons and Jesse Jacksons among us, you will be labeled a ‘racist.’ If you are black but Republican you are an ‘Uncle Tom.’ If you are a black student who wishes to achieve merit you are an ‘Oreo’. If you are a Clarence Thomas or Thomas Sowell type you are ‘inauthentic’.
I decided years ago that I would talk about race in the classroom. Maybe ¼ of my students are black. They listen to what I have to say even if they do not believe all of it. That is progress of a sort.
Interestingly, I have been asked many times by my black students if Bush hates black people. This question is a window into the worldview of the black family, many of which have adopted the full monty of Democrat Party race mongering, bitterness and racism.
I think there are chinks in the armor of the racism industry. The recent murder of the Washington Redskins’ safety caused a couple of black columnists to write passionate columns about black on black violence. Both stopped short of the real problem which is morality.
Juan Williams, hard core lefty that he is, hasn’t stopped short of anything and has written extensively about this.
I would gladly vote for Rudy or McCain over Romney. Romney is all packaging and little payoff. In exchange for a pandering, empty suit, you force the Republican party to deal with easily-written propaganda from the other side. If Romney is nominated in 2008, I’m not sure what I’ll do. I’m sure I’ll feel differently come September, 2008, but for now, the Romney candidacy is just jaw-droppingly awful for the party.
In any case, I sent some of my extremely scarce cash to help Fred.
By the way, I used to read blackprof.com regularly and participated in the discussions on the comment threads. It was enlightening. Omnipresent racism is a thing of faith, not of substance. The arguments on that site were essentially religious ones.
Dear KT Cat:
I have read ‘passionate columns about black-on-black violence’ since I became a sentient being in college. When I read such today they read just as the ones I had read thirty years ago. The arguments are the same. Nothing has changed but the number of corpses.
The problem is one of morality, as you said. But every problem is such. A moral people would not enslave themselves to a Moloch State that promised handouts yet delivered infanticide and servitude.
Of all the nut jobs this country produces and encourages none are nuttier than those that come from the race-addled and their handlers—not even Ron Paul types. Listening to a Sharpton, a Farrakhan or a Jackson reveals a mentality that has slipped the bonds of rationality. There is no reasoning with such. One might as well have a debate with a rabid animal.
The acolytes of what you call ‘omnipresent racism’ do indeed make religious sounding arguments, but theirs is a counterfeit faith. Their beliefs usher them into misery, poverty, violence, the prison cell, early graves and on to Hell. Yep, just like Christianity.
Speaking of how a moral people conduct their public affairs, would such vote into high office a Rudy? Cross-dressing, sodomite rights, gun control, messy divorces, grubby private life, pro-abortion, open borders: such things are run-of-the-mill for the Democrats, but since when did Republicans think these attitudes and behaviors merit reward? Since when did Republicans think that a man who uses public funds to support his yum-yum is a good choice for the presidency? Rudy promises this-and-that, but he also promised this-and-that to his many ex-wives. Did he keep those promises?
How does a man like Rudy appear to God? Just a question.
McCain has insulted the Christian faith, backstabbed heartland Republicans, loves the media, slandered those who want border control and proved himself half-hearted on taxes. McCain’s ‘vote for me, I’m a POW’ shtick is a bit thin. He is running for president of the US not for POW of the year. Other than that he is a fine chap.
And Romney? Well, National Review likes him—which for me is a reason not to vote for him. That mag has long been sliding down the hill of irrelevancy and has yet to hit bottom. What bothers me is that with all the bright and brilliant and beautiful boys Romney has, not one has served in the military. With all of Romney’s palaver about ‘duty to country’ there is no evidence he or his actually does anything other than prattle.
Of course, the Democrat candidates are worse, if that can be believed.
What a world. One that we made.
“With all of Romney’s palaver about ‘duty to country’ there is no evidence he or his actually does anything other than prattle.”
Or make buckets of money.
Dear KT Cat:
Making ‘buckets of money’ is not in itself evil. David, Solomon, Job, Abraham—all had buckets of money.
If Romney fails it will not be because of his wealth but in spite of it.
Likewise, poverty itself—whether relative or objective—is no sign of moral health or class. If I fail and end up in Hell it will not be because I have never had money. It will be because I wasted and used for evil purposes the little wealth I did have.
